
Amanda McKinney, PsyD, LCP
Dr. Amanda McKinney is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with over 15 years of experience in psychological assessment and LGBTQ-affirming care. She is licensed in both Illinois and Indiana and earned her doctorate in clinical psychology in 2014.

Dr. McKinney specializes in comprehensive psychological evaluations across the lifespan, including assessments for ADHD, autism, learning differences, and complex diagnostic clarification. She is particularly passionate about supporting individuals who have historically been misunderstood or misdiagnosed, and she takes a neurodiversity-affirming and trauma-informed approach to all assessment and therapeutic work.

In addition to her testing expertise, Dr. McKinney offers psychotherapy and WPATH letters for clients seeking gender-affirming medical care. She is deeply committed to serving the LGBTQ+ community and strives to create a space that is safe, collaborative, and validating.

Currently, Dr. McKinney serves in a primarily administrative and leadership role at Synapse Collaborative, where she focuses on building sustainable systems of care, providing supervision and consultation, and fostering a practice culture rooted in equity, autonomy, and clinical excellence.

Outside of work, Amanda enjoys punk and Midwest emo music, making art, rollerblading, hiking, and spending time with her beloved mini goldendoodle, Pepita.
