Legal and Court Related Services

Occasionally, attorneys, courts, schools, employers, or other agencies request information or testimony from a member of our clinical team. These services require substantial professional time outside the provision of routine clinical care and treatment and are not covered by health insurance.

 

Examples include:

• Attorney consultations

• Record review

• Treatment summaries and letters

• Affidavits

• Depositions

• Court testimony

• Travel and waiting time

• Professional consultation regarding a client's treatment

 

These services are billed at our legal service rates and are the responsibility of the individual or entity requesting the service unless otherwise required by law or court order.

Advance payment or a retainer may be required for depositions, court appearances, and extensive record review.

Please note that treating therapists generally serve as fact witnesses regarding treatment provided and do not provide custody evaluations, parenting recommendations, or advocacy for either party unless specifically retained to provide such services.

For current legal service rates or to schedule legal consultation, please contact our office.  Legal services are billed in 15-minute increments unless a minimum applies. 

• Attorney Consultation - $300/hour billed in 15-min increments

• Record Review - $250/hour billed in 15-min increments

• Written Documents - $250/hour with a 30-minute minimum

• Depositions - $350/hour with a 2-hour minimum

• Court Testimony - $400/hour with a 4-hour minimum

• Travel - $200/hour including any additional fees (mileage, parking, tolls, lodging, etc)

• Professional Consultation - $300/hour billed in 15-min increments

• Expert Opinion Requests - $500/hour

Legal requests involving current or former clients may be declined if the requested service would create a conflict with the clinician's role as a treating provider or is outside the scope of the clinician's treatment relationship.
